Unpopular Thomas Opinions

More opinions coming from me.

- I find Seasons 3, 5, 7 and 8 to be the most underrated seasons of the TV series.

- While I did say Proteus is my least favourite character, I don't hate him. Why you may ask? Because hating a character with little to no personality (goes for Lady, Thumper, Bertram, Neville, Colin etc. too.) is like hating a stranger more than your arch-enemy.

- I feel that the TV series was right in moving away from adapting Railway Series stories in Season 3 onward because if it continued to stick with adapting Railway Series stories up to now, there'd be no more stories left to adapt.

- I don't think Britt Allcroft and David Mitton stole Andrew Brenner's magazine stories, I just feel they didn't even know who wrote those stories, thus being the likely reason he wasn't credited.

- I now find Misty Island Rescue as overhated as Thomas and the Magic Railway. Granted, it's not that well written, but at least it contributed a Search and Rescue Centre to the franchise.

I think Misty Island Rescue gets all the hate for very good reasons though:

- Constant Rhyming and Alliteration
- Little to NO railway realism (including dangerous stunts)
- The Logging Locos
- Thomas was very UNLIKABLE (ex: was racist towards Diesel for no reason)

I think that every character that doesn't have a personality or never spoke in the TV series deserves another chance. This will give them a chance to shine. Although unlikely, you never know what might happen.

The ones in bold are the ones I agree with you at least mostly. The ones I left normal I have no opinion about them or I don't really know the topic. I feel Season 6 is the one underrated while Season 5 IMO deserves it's respect though it probably could get a little more. Season 6 seems to be overlooked by a lot of fans to me. I also agree with you on that if the TVS only decided to adapt RWS stories, we would run out and the series would have probably ended.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree on "Misty Island is overhated"- its hate it well placed. From the constant rhyming to the shake shake bridge, so much was wrong with the special.

I will concede, however, that there were two nice contributions:

As we saw in season 19, the Search and Rescue Center does work when used properly

And as Toz mentioned some time ago, the idea of a logging Island could have worked, but it just failed in execution

Heres another one.

To me, seasons 6 and 7 are the most under-talked seasons in the history of the series. You have have Seasons 1-4 gets praised most of the time, 5 is mixed, 8 as underated, 9-16 as the dark era and 17-onwards as brilliant. So where is the love for 6 and 7? People seem to forget that they even existed.

I know that seasons 6 and 7 exist. Season 7 is actually in my top five favorite seasons

Alec Baldwin has the best narration period.

More opinions from me...

-Season 16 was the best of the early CGI Series (S13-16) but was still bad as a whole.
-Flash, Bang, Wallop was one of my favorite episodes from that season.
-Most of the new characters from Season 9 were pointless with seemingly a small amount of potential in the series at all.

More Opinions:
-I consider the Classic Series, Thomas and the Magic Railroad, the New Series, the Nitrogen Series and the Arc Series all separate canons.
-I think the music from the New Series (Seasons 8-12) is kind of boring and bland and I think they should of used the music mostly from Season 4 combined with some Season 7 music bits for Seasons 8-12.
-I think the models used from Seasons 6-12 should of kept the metallic glossy paint from the first five seasons and Thomas should of kept the red lining on his bunker for Seasons 4-18. The lighting/look from Season 4 and the sets from Seasons 3-4 should of also stayed for Seasons 5-12.
-Seasons 8-16 should of been written like Seasons 3, 4, 6, and 7 and the characters would of had their personalities and traits from Seasons 3-4.
-Thomas, Edward, Percy, Toby, Duck, Oliver and Stepney should of been working on their branch lines and Bill and Ben should of been working at the china clay pits during Seasons 6-12.
-Duck, Donald, Douglas, Oliver, Stepney, Bill, Ben, Daisy, BoCo, Sir Handel, Duke, Terence, Trevor, George and Caroline shouldn't of disappeared after Seasons 5-7 and their shouldn't of been so many pointless characters introduced and the idea of the SteamTeam should of never been thought of.

-I really love the song from Season 8 A World Around You. It sort of reminds me of the Island Song.
-I like Emily's theme from Season 8 better than her Season 8.
-The New Series barring Season 8, should be combined with the Nitrogen one to not be a part of the canon excluding The Great Discovery, Hero of the Rails and Blue Mountain Mystery.
-I also thought that the narrow gauge engines in BMM were acting a quite ridiculous over Thomas confessing what happened near the end of the movie except Luke, but it was still a good special.

I find Emily's Season 7 theme to be...how should I say? Soothing and wonderful to listen to. I'd almost want to listen to it all day

Speaking of that, we did fix Misty island in 3WSR after the bronze Mage was defeated, where only Puffa worked there after, but in the sense of the show they could have it as say  Henry working there every so often.

-I could care less about the lining on the back of Thomas' bunker.

-I generally go for the UK narrations when it comes to Thomas episodes.

-Speaking of which, the only thing I don't like about Season 3 is the US version of Thomas and Percy's Christmas Adventure, since Thanksgiving is an American holiday and Sodor is supposedly a British island

While I get the thanksgiving/Christmas issue with that episode, I will admit it did not bother me as a kid

Funny because they got mad about Thomas asking Victor about the yellow engine but Victor is a narrow gauge engine and they didn't even let Thomas finish. Also they were unaware that the workmen could of told one of the controllers about Luke.

I actually like the new characters from The Adventure Begins and i believe they both have potential.

I don't see Jerome and Judy returning. But if they do, i would see them working at the Sodor Search and Rescue Centre alongside Rocky. I would love to see how they would get along.

As for Glynn, i would see him working on the Earl's Estate Railway with Stephen and Millie. I would love to see an expansion on Glynn on this personality and to actually see him working!

The bold ones I agree. At least Toby got a lead role in Season 18, even if he was out of character. As for Calling All Engines, it's better than TATMR any day. I believe the Rule Fifty-Five flaw in Henry's Forest was minor. I believe some people jumped on the bandwagon because the reverend criticised it. As for Wonky Whistle, while there are people out there who hate for reasons like "Thomas was an idiot!", "How can you put all those animals in one van?!" and "Wonky whistles don't sound like that!", others hate it because...........well, just because.
The italic ones I don't have a fully fledged opinion because either I haven't seen it or haven't thought about it.
The normal ones I disagree.

I like Fergus.
I don't hate Charlie, Flynn, Bash, Dash or Ferdinand.
I find Diesel more overrated than Duck. Not by the fans, but by the TV series.
I prefer Boco (my favourite diesel) over Daisy.
I wasn't that fond of Nitrogen's animation. It just felt overcast for some reason.

How so, might I ask?

More from me:

1. There is no point of trying to bring back the models. In the New Series, the models and sets don't look very appealing or interesting. They were also expensive.

2. Along with many older Thomas fans, I prefer Henry's old persona, (arrogant, grumpy, vain, can be kind, etc.) but I don't mind his worrying persona as long as it wasn't like seasons 8-16 where it made him look like he is not very bright or a complete idiot sometimes. In fact, I kind of see traits of his old persona appearing in a few episodes like Kevin's Cranky Friend, Sign as Crossed and Scruff's Makeover. Beyond Henry Spots Trouble (Though I like the episode) I would rather have Henry to keep his hypochondriac behavior along with his old traits for the sake of being consistent. It is established that he has an extra "something" that isolates him from James and Gordon. I mean his trait of worrying was present as far back as Season 1 in the episodes Coal and The Flying Kipper. It just wasn't obnoxious like New/Nitrogen Series. So therefore he is the most complex character in both the TV and RWS combined. Let's just be patient that one day, Henry gets that one meaningful episode that really shows that he belongs.
