I guess that makes sense.
But in this picture he has a smirk although he's not looking that way.

Illustration error? Perhaps he's checking the track behind as his driver inspects in front? There are myriad explanations.

But hes looking away from the track?

Re: Mysteries of Thomas the Tank Engine Discussion
Take a look at Knapford throughout the model series. The trackplan changed once a season! Why? In fact, nearly all the locations did that! Why!

Why "?", Mr. Grammar.Â
You're right though, in S1 there's a mine behind Knapford, but every other season there's a town, yard, nothing... So weird!

Re: Mysteries of Thomas the Tank Engine Discussion
To be fair, continuity didn't exist that much until S17.

Re: Mysteries of Thomas the Tank Engine Discussion
True, but even in the classic series there's a huge amount of variation. Knapford slowly shrunk, Tidmouth Station shrunk really fast, Brendam, Wellsworth and the Shunting Yard changed drastically, and Lower Suddery grew, all in the space of Season 2-3.

There's probably a switch that leads to the mine.

(Luc, you annoying little.. Please stop trying to force new topics without anyone else's will! If you want to change the topic, just bring up something unrelated to the previous, without any rudeness.)

I was just saying that we couldnt come to a conclusion and that it might be best to stop the conversation there.
But in S1, you can see the platforms, they're right there! Now theres a wall! Maybe it was filled up and built over, it was abandoned by the 50s after all.

It still came across as a bit...blunt.
Actually, here's a mystery; how did Edward get his branch line?

Re: Mysteries of Thomas the Tank Engine Discussion
According to Old Reliable Edward, it can be implied that he got the Wellsworth-Brendam line for good behavior and work ethics. But even what was said in that episode wasn't very clear on how he earned it. I also don't know when he took over the duties for the line either.

Re: Mysteries of Thomas the Tank Engine Discussion
Some time between Troublesome Engines and Edward the Blue Engine, although he seemed to still work on the Main Line occasionally for a little while after (Skarloey Remembers).
With regards to trackplans, what about the Shunting Yards? It's a different place each season!

Re: Mysteries of Thomas the Tank Engine Discussion
Edward was on the main line in Skarloey Remembers because he was sent to the works.

Re: Mysteries of Thomas the Tank Engine Discussion
I figured it was something like that. Perhaps he received his branch as a reward for not striking like the others in Troublesome Engines.

If so, shouldn't that be said somewhere? I mean, Edward just got his branch out of nowhere.

Re: Mysteries of Thomas the Tank Engine Discussion
It's certainly jarring, but this was before there was any real record-keeping or consistency. I suspect he thought he'd already mentioned it.
Re: Mysteries of Thomas the Tank Engine Discussion
Actually, wouldn't it be interesting if the show right now went into that? How Edward got his branch line? It'd be a plot that doesn't involve him being old.

Re: Mysteries of Thomas the Tank Engine Discussion
A what!? Impossible!
On another note, what are your thoughts on the token females that have been introduced of late? My personal favorite is Marion: she's got a unique, appealing, relateable personality and a distinctive design (her forehead is freakish though). Far better than the likes of Flora and Caitlin, who are there simply to add some girls.
