Re: Thomas Creator Collective Discussion
Night of the Diesels is my favorite so far. Diesel 10 and Philip were hilarious together, and I thought the plot was really clever. Gordon's Grand Adventure would be second.
My least favorite is probably Henry's Fire Rescue. Not that I didn't like it; I did like it a lot, but I just liked the other ones better.
Sodor's Finest is getting off to a good start! The concept of the international engines from The Great Race being a sort of league is really clever in my opinion. I'm looking forward to seeing the other engines join. I do wonder if all the international engines are part of this league. Axel did appear in The Fast and the Fizzleboxes, and didn't bring anything up, although he did mention Frieda and Etienne, so who knows. I guess the only ones we know at this point are Scotsman, Yong Bao, Ivan, and Raul, but I'm looking forward to seeing how they act as a group!

I've not seen all of these yet! I watched the first four compilations I think, and a couple of the shorts, I really need to catch up! Seems like they have some pretty clever stories.

Sometimes, it can be really good. Other times, it can get repetitive and merchandise-y.

Re: Thomas Creator Collective Discussion
I actually want about The Steam Games for a minute because i think, out of all of the projects the collective has made, that this is the worse. Although Sodor's Finest suffers from a lack of respect to the show and fans in general (as well as recycling a dozen or so Thomas projects), The Steam Games suffers from one major problem...
...It has NO story.
As in, no real plot (apart from the Steam Games, which also recycles the plot of The Fast & The Fizzleboxes), no real character moments and each episode feels so repetitive. This is literally what happens in each episode of the series. Team Sodor wins first game fairly, International team cheats second game with Vinnie. Team Sodor wins first game fairly, International team cheats second game with Vinnie. Team Sod... Yeah you get the idea. As a result, it's gets boring fast, and you could probably predict the outcome each time.
Oh, and speaking of Vinnie, i really hated his role in The Steam Games, especially in Episode 2 of the 4 part series, where he deliberately derails James in order for him to win the game for his team. This scene, to me, is one of, if not, the worst scenes to ever be put into a Thomas production for two big reasons
1. If you pause the video at 5:05 of the 6 minute 30 video (12:53 if your watching the compilation), you will notice there is a switch track that James could of taken to avoid Vinnie, but no, he crashes into Vinnie because this series must have drama (if not enough of that has happened already).
2. Vinnie... Gets... Absolutely... No... Consciences... For... Doing... This... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! No even a penalty or a disqualification from the team, i know it's difficult to disqualify someone from two man game, but Vinnie surely should have gotten some sort of punishment for his actions towards James, and even in episode 3 when he yanks Thomas of his side of his team and crashes him into Ashima in the Tug of War event (why that exists, i dont know). Even ####ing Stan & Nigel seem to completely ignore the fact that James was deliberately derailed by Vinnie by saying that "That's one of risks of this game". I'm just like DID YOU EVEN SEE WHAT JUST HAPPENED IN FRONT OF YOU!!!
Sorry for using caps in this one, but this really annoys me to no end and it really made me lose hope in the Thomas Creator Collective.

Re: Thomas Creator Collective Discussion
Gotta agree with you, honestly. I found it completely boring, unimaginative and just plain bad. They brought nothing new to the table there, just proved the points of people saying the series is going downhill.
In fact, I haven't seen a full series by them since The Steam Games, and the only one I watched since was Gordon Goes Native. I thought it was surprisingly good, so perhaps it's getting better. I'll have to see when I get the time.

It's a Wonderful Railway was fantastic. Best one since Gordon's Grand Adventure.

Re: Thomas Creator Collective Discussion
Okay, I gave it a watch. Not the best but it was okay. Entertaining to say the least. Thought it was a bit rushed though. The big question is why all that changed just because Percy didn't come to Sodor? Kinda confused on that point but otherwise it was pretty good.MainLineEngine112 wrote:It's a Wonderful Railway was fantastic. Best one since Gordon's Grand Adventure.
Also, when Captain said, "The mail is ship-shape!" I was pretty sure he was gonna say, "The mail is shot!"
Re: Thomas Creator Collective Discussion
Allow me to present my list of TCC rankings, from worst to best.
Top 10! Woo-woo!
Top 5!
Now time for the Top 3!!!
And now, my number one favorite Thomas Creator Collective series...
- 31:
- DC Super Friends
100% pointless. It was a little bit amusing, I guess, but it was SO merchandise-y, and has nothing to do with anything.
- 30:
- The Great Chase
What was the point of this thing again? We have a chase or runaway in pretty much every single series, so what was the point of having a video that was literally just a runaway. Very inconsequential and just pointless.
- 29:
- Rumbling Rails
A chase scene that stretches out over three parts. It had slightly more of an influence on the overall storyline than The Great Chase did, and Stephen was mildly amusing, but it still just felt so pointless, especially because the chase was literally for nothing.
- 28:
- Home for the Holidays
It was pretty bland, but at least things happened. I actually got really excited for this one, because I thought the internationals were FINALLY leaving, but I was kinda disappointed. Before this episode, I was kinda burnt out on the internationals. After this, I couldn't wait to see them leave, especially Ashima.
- 27:
- Accidents Will Happen and the Not So Grand Prix
Generic music video, but still pretty cool. The Not So Grand Prix segment was neat-ish, and I enjoy the Scotsman/Yong Bao stuff, but at the same time, what the flippity-flop were the Horrid Lorries doing in Monte Carlo??? Also, I kind of was hoping we wouldn't see the "Monte Carlo Incident," and it would just kinda be this thing that was brought up, but we knew nothing about. Also, another entire episode devoted to a chase sequence. Yay.
- 26:
- Axel Takes a Tumble
Not bad, but not a lot to it. The thing with all the female engines following Axel like he's Gaston from Beauty and the Beast is kinda... eh, I don't even know. It's funny-ish, but it just doesn't really fit in the world. I liked George's role though.
- 25:
- Thomas Creator Collective Presents...
These were totally pointless. Just little compilations to reel in dinero. I will admit though, some of the little clips were fun, though they all just seemed to deepen my desire to get rid of the Internationals.
- 24:
- Thomas' Tall Tale
While the story was actually pretty exciting, and actually original-ish (no chases, races, or runaways! ), it was still another one of those unfortunate international-engine-based one-parters that cursed the TCC for a while. This is one of the better of those, but it was still just kinda... eh.
- 23:
- A Bad Day for Vinnie
Another pointless International-engine one-parter. However, I did like the Philip/Vinnie/Diesel 10 interactions. I don't really like Diesel 10 is as enjoyable as a heroic character. I liked him much more in the Night of the Diesels-Sodor's Finest period when he was an anti-hero. His role here seemed like it should have belonged to Toby or someone, especially given Toby and Philip's dynamic in Season 20. However, this one was still okay. Not great, but okay.
- 22:
- Bridge Jump and Triple Race
This is kinda the episode that gave birth to the the pointless one-part era. Yet another episode dedicated to a race. However, I actually did enjoy the race in this one. Some nice scenes with Bertie, Scotsman, and Harold. Also, the bridge jump part was kind of entertaining.
- 21:
- Hugo and the Lost Lorry
Eh, this one... existed. I don't really care for Hugo that much, and I haven't really enjoyed the Lorries in the TCC. Skiff was good in this though. All in all, not much I can say for this. It... happened... I guess.
- 20:
- Gordon Goes Native
Finally! The last pointless, international-engine one-parter! This one was actually not so bad. I liked the interactions between Gordon and Frieda, and Toad was good too. Gordon totally voiced just about everyone's opinion about the international episodes in this episode. I still wonder though, why did Toad call Frieda Mrs. Frieda instead of Miss Frieda. Is she married??? :/
- 19:
- Spooky Sodor
The stories were all disconnected, which is... fine, I guess. I liked some of the stories, like the one with Ivan, Raul, Bill, Ben, Logan, and Bertram. However, the other ones were kinda cliche. I will say though, this series had some great visuals, from the fog, to James floating down the river, and the scenery, and everything. Story-wise, this was pretty by-the-numbers.
- 18:
- The Steam Games
Pretty much just Racers on the Rails but boring, repetitive, and with the international engines. All in all, it wasn't that bad. At this point, I was not yet fed up with the international engines, and I somewhat enjoyed the role they had. If this series had more variety to its storyline, it would have been pretty solid.
- 17:
- Rescue the Runaway
I think this was the first TCC episode I didn't really like that much. It was just kinda... meh. A whole episode dedicated to a crash? Yawn. That being said, it was exciting enough, and it wasn't that bad overall.
- 16:
- Sodor's Seven
This was... fine. The plot finally gets going, and it has my attention. S.C.Ruffey as the main villain is clever enough, and I'm glad we're getting Diesel back. I do deeply hope Diesel ends up in an anti-hero role like Diesel 10 did. The story in this was fine. I enjoy S.C.Ruffey's desire to get revenge on Oliver, but it feels... out of place. Oliver is such a minor character in the TCC, so when the main villain's entire motivation is revenge on him, it makes his presence feel very forced. Like, imagine if Supreme Leader Snoke's end goal was to get revenge on Captain Antilles. That'd be stupid.
- 15:
- Sodor's Finest
This was a cool climax, but felt very fanfic-y. S.C.Ruffey's role was cool, but at the same time, it suffers from the same thing I talked about with Sodor's Seven. Oliver is so minor that it felt jarring when he was suddenly such a main focus in the overall plot. Philip and Diesel 10's dynamic was still very strong, so that was a plus. My biggest gripe is how anti-climactic the ending was. I mean, I don't really know how else they could have changed it, but it felt so rushed. At least Skarloey said a line, so, hey, that's something.
- 14:
- The Island Song
I love this song, and I loved the music video too, but in the end, I couldn't really put it any higher, because, well, it's literally just a music video. That being said, the fact that it surpasses so many other episodes says something.
- 13:
- Thomas and the Really Useful Crew
The first part was really good. The second part was... okay. Like, Gina being responsible for burning the shed down because she was homesick? What? That was so out-of-nowhere! But, hey, this brought us one amazing thing...
THE INTERNATIONALS ARE FINALLY GONE!!!
Except for Vinnie. Oh well. Vinnie is still pretty good.
- 12:
- Thomas and the Troublesome Trucks
I can't say too much here. The characters were all pretty strong, especially Edward. Spencer and Thomas were good too, and I did really like the crash in it. That being said, not a lot else to it.
- 11:
- Brother Bother
Gordon and Flying Scotsman's interaction was very good. However, other than that, there just wasn't much to this. I really can't say a lot about it other than that I liked Gordon and Scotsman.
Top 10! Woo-woo!
- 10:
- Percy and the Railway Circus
Ah, a nice, simple story without secret evil conspiracies weaved into the plot. I really enjoyed this one. It was fun and exciting, but it wasn't over-the-top. Very nice change of pace.
- 9:
- The Fast and the Fizzleboxes
Okay, first of all, what the heck is a fizzlebox? The Fast and the Fireboxes would have been fine! Why fizzleboxes??? Anyways, this was a very fun series, and James was portrayed really well. His interactions with Henry and Axel were very great to watch, and it was fun watching all the engines who were in the race. That being said, it was another series dedicated entirely to racing, and we had one of those just before. Also, it was the birth of the international engines' inclusion. However, Axel himself was very enjoyable in this series, and it was overall pretty darn good.
- 8:
- Philip's Bumpy Branch Line
Top 10, what what! Like Railway Circus, this episode was another nice change of pace. Though he can be a little annoying when there's too much of him, I really enjoy Philip, and thought this was a nice little episode for him. I can't say too much wrong with this episode, but at the same time, it wasn't anything all that amazing either.
- 7:
- Henry's Fire Rescue
A very nice story, and a nice break from all the secret evil conspiracies going on, though there was a touch of it with the trucks and all, but whatever, it wasn't much. Nice reminiscence of Henry's Forest, and good inclusion of the Search and Rescue Fleet. Exciting story, but again, not over the top. Thomas was forced into it so hard though.
- 6:
- Secrets of the Stolen Crown
Ah, the one that started it all. Looking back on it, this one isn't quite as great as it was when I first watched it, but it's still really good, and I actually got a bit of nostalgia when I went back to re-watch it. It felt so small-scale in terms of storyline, which was a really great thing to watch. No big, massive, underground plots to overthrow the railway. Just two sides trying to get a crown. And the Thomas/Percy/Skiff dynamic was great!
Top 5!
- 5:
- Racers on the Rails
Even though this was an entire series dedicated to races and chases, it was also the first one to do so, so it's not like it was a re-hash of anything. I really enjoyed it, to be honest. The relay race was very fun to watch, and Philip was at his best here! The ending with Diesel 10 leaving was actually very emotional. I really expected Diesel 10 to get even more villainous, except directed at Diesel, and though I would have liked that, what we got was pretty close, and I liked his anti-heroism too. Some really great scenes in this one. However, the scene where the steam engines are stealing the fuel is so flawed I can't even. Like, engines turn around and switch lines so randomly. Other than that, really solid.
- 4:
- Night of the Diesels
This series was actually really exciting! It birthed the Diesel 10/Philip relationship, and I loved it here more than anywhere else. It was exciting watching Diesel's plan unfold, and watching Diesel 10 resort to anti-heroism. This was very promising, and I really enjoyed it.
Now time for the Top 3!!!
- 3:
- It's a Wonderful Railway
Shocking that an episode that came from the era of international-engine one-parters could be #3, but lo and behold, here it is! This episode was so dramatic, so emotional, so intense! It was legitimately eerie, and I loved it! I think maybe it could have been better if it was allowed to be longer, but even so, it all felt very natural, and just all-around fantastic!
- 2:
- The Great Snow Storm of Sodor
I absolutely love this series. I remember watching it for the first time in the weeks leading up to Christmas, and just enjoying it so much. I felt like I was watching a classic Thomas Christmas episode, with a certain CGI era/TCC twist. Ryan's character was very strong here, and I liked the nod to Gator's advice from Tale of the Brave. That being said, it would have been nice to actually get some expansion on Gator himself in the future of the TCC, but sadly, we got only one little bonus scene with him in it. However, that's hardly a complaint about this series. It was just all around very exciting, and yet very peaceful. It was actually my favorite for a while. However, there is one more that topped it off even better!
And now, my number one favorite Thomas Creator Collective series...
- 1:
- Gordon's Grand Adventure
By process of elimination, I'm sure you figured this out already. I abso-stinkin'-lutely love this series. Gordon and Spencer's dynamic is so strong and well-done! Even though there were a couple chase sequences, they were all exciting and felt very natural. Everything about this series just felt so cool and epic that I can't not love it. I still consider it the #1 best TCC series there is!

I've seen a few episodes, but not the whole series.
So... could someone just explain what this is to me? So Thomas and friends brought together some of the best youtubers of thomas fanwork, and they work together to make material for the official channel?

Re: Thomas Creator Collective Discussion
Exactly. From what I understand, each producer shoots the scenes at home, and they are all incorporated into stories, just like the remakes on the older, unofficial channel TheTTTECommunity. HiT/Mattel may also provide models of essential characters the producers do not have in their possession and aid them in providing scenes for the episodes (based on my memory). Your question is actually a perfect description of the TCC.

Speaking of The Steam Games, as much as I hate Vinnie, I will admit it was funny when he called Diesel Ten "Twinkletoes". Why? Because that's my nickname for Diesel Ten.

you know what, you remind me of another problem with Vinnie in the TCC. Of all the international engines, he's been the most overused. Even after the International Engines went home in Rumbling Rails (very original title by the way, Not), he's somehow left behind in Sodor and has now been milked to death with since. But you know why i think Vinnie still here? I personally think its because of his voice actor UpsideNow since he's a massive fan of Vinnie. No offense to him of course, but i feel like i'm starting to get sick of Vinnie very fast. I won't even be surprised if hes still here come the JBS characters appearing in the series.

Re: Thomas Creator Collective Discussion
Speaking of the international engines, one of the more recent TCC episodes that really annoyed me was Home For The Holidays, the episode released close to Christmas Day that featured Ashima.
I would argue this is up there with some of the worst TCC episodes and the reason for this is because it suffers from the same problems from Hiro appearances in Hero of the Rails and Seasons 13-16, when Ashima is such a crybaby about missing home. I mean throughout shes just like "I miss my friends from home" or "i wish i could be home for Christmas". I'm just here like.... FFS, if you really miss home, you can just, i don't know, ASK IF YOU COULD GO HOME???? Like seriously, the collective made me like Ashima a hell of a lot less because of how shes portrayed in them.
Also, her voice in the collective is awful. Like seriously, i can't stand Ashima voice in the TCC. It sounds like her voice actor isn't really trying, especially in the more action packed scenes of the Collective episodes.

So, I haven't really gotten into watching them yet, save for a few specials, but one thing I have noticed- there seems to be a bit of a bias towards the higher end model trains (Bachmann, Hornby, etc)
Come to think of it, I think EnterprisingEngines93 is the only Wooden railway guy in there, and I think there was only 1 or 2 who used one of the plastic lines, but that's about it
