The Hornby Thomas engines look weird.

I'm not a big fan of Duck. I can see why people like him, but I've always seen him as rather.. bland in my opinion, and especially in S17-19, his "lol i'm great western" gets annoying to me after a while.

I was never that big on Duck returning, I always wanted Oliver back first. I also didn't like his role in The Thomas Way (which is my unpopular opinion, the rest is popularish), but for me Duck has been great since he returned. I think he's been acting a lot like how some Northern English people act, which may be why he appeals to me (although I'm almost nothing like Duck.) I've also liked Bill and Ben a lot more since S17.

I'll agree that his role in the Thomas Way could have been better, but at the same time, it wasn't a hate-able performance. It was a fine episode. Some minor improvements, yes, but nothing too extreme.

I agree. I didn't mean I didn't like him in The Thomas Way (even though I said that ), but it could have been better.

I guess I'll also be one to admit that *The Thomas Way* could have been a bit better too. Although Duck is clearly still my favorite male character.

I think Bash's voice in the (second) Hebrew version is even more annoying than his original one, whereas Dash's is better than the original (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrUVIyhhhkQ).

I find the Island Song exceptionally irritating. I think this is probably because of my view of what Sodor is (and also coincides with my view of TATMR).

I view Sodor as a working railway, where the engines, stock and other vehicles happen to be sentient, not "a magical land where your dreams will come true". I also think this is partly because I have been where Sodor should be, and it looks exactly like the rest of the English sea!

I understand that many people grew up with this song or have positive associations with it. But for someone who never heard it until I was 15, alongside the other reasons I've mentioned - it really does nothing for me.

I didn't like The Island Song when I was smaller, I used to find it quite boring, but it is my favourite Thomas song now. I interpret "magical land where dreams come true" as that we all want to visit/live in Sodor and if it was real, it would be like our dreams coming true if it was real. I live near where Sodor should be and I can see where Sodor should be from my school and sometimes I daydream about what it would be like if it was there. Sodor is a normal railway with more charm than the rest of the railways in the UK.

For me, The Island Song represents Sodor as a whole. It gets the joy tears flowing, y'know? I don't really interpret as literally a "magical place" but a "fictional place". Then again, since TATMRR was probably thought of by this point, I wouldn't really be surprised if Britt slipped that in on purpose.

And not to mention, the song has the line "To a land of make believe", meaning that it's not a magical island, but a mythical island that's based on real life.

And as for TATMR (or STSTM or TATTF as some of you might like to call it), it was originally going to be called "Thomas and the Rainbow Railway", but Americans wanted Britt to Americanise it for them.

I think the context of 'magical' in the song is the same context as a 'magical evening' rather than magic tricks and disappearing acts.

I'd agree with that. I loved the island song as a kid; and I always interpreted "magical" to be metaphoric, not literal. I really want to explain my view on what the "magic" is, but I fear I will make it sound too cheesy, lol

I too find the Hornby Thomas engines to be somewhat weird looking. I mean, Edward and Emily barely look like their basis. Dart has siderods, even though neither his render or his basis have them.

I think Edward is severely underrated. I wish there more characters with such awesome personalities as his.

Yeah, he's on mine too. if anything, I think Toby's underrated; in the show and with the fans.

Actually, both Edward and Toby are underappreciated. Toby had the Allcroft treatment on him and he still hasn't been fixed. Edward had the Barlow treatment done on him, but he redeemed himself in Old Reliable Edward. So yeah, both Edward and Toby are underrated.

Edward has always been unappreciated by the production team (Even from Series 5), but I don't think he is by the fans, maybe by the younger ones, but the older fans love him. He is my second favourite engine (behind Oliver) and he is often in the top 5 characters in lists that I see.

Toby is underrated universally. He is my fourth favourite engine (behind Oliver, Edward and Henry), but he doesn't seem to get a lot of love which is a shame.

I would say out of all the engines in the Series at the moment, Edward, Toby, Emily, Oliver and Henry need to appear more. It has been very focused on Thomas, Percy, James and Gordon, as well as Duck in the recent Series, which isn't a bad thing. Duck and James have really shone under the new writing team.

Duck only shone because so many people love him and James has shone too because he's Andrew's favourite.

Don't forget Bill and Ben really shone too, even if they aren't Steam Team members.

I think Duck is shown because the show is mainly focusing on classic series characters with a few new characters.
