Re: Future of the Railway Series
I would like to see Brenner take over the job of writing Railway Series Stories. But, I wish that he just has a workload that he can handle. He is the head writer for the TV Series writing about 10 episodes each season and writes for the specials. He also wrote a few songs in SLOLT too. If Christopher Awdry decides that the torch can be passed on to Brenner, I just hope that all of Brenner's current jobs and writer of the RWS be too much for him, that's all.

Re: Future of the Railway Series
Maybe he could simply write for the RWS and adapt them to the show?
Maybe it could even be part of the Back-to-the-RWS initiative

If the Railway Series is continued, I hope that they decide to look at lines other than Thomas; engines like Bear and Oliver need a little more time in the spotlight.

Personally, I think a book about Skarloey and Rheneas' 150th birthdays would have been A great title to release, to coincide with Talyllyn and Dolgoch's 150th birthday

Yes, that would be great. What say we make a 3WSR Railway Series book out of it?
Re: Future of the Railway Series
That'll do; but just so you know, I would rather see I I high than Freddie in the story

'I I high'?

I think he meant Ivo Hugh.
This is why I turned auto-correct off.

Re: Future of the Railway Series
To be honest, I think Brenner taking over the RWS could be great or awful. Because he already writes for the television series, the specials and songs, I think television is his thing. He doesn't exactly have the style of the Awdrys (He has the spirit but not necessarily the mature tone, except maybe SLOTLT.)

Re: Future of the Railway Series
And he may not be used to writing in a book format
Show:
Thomas: Hi Percy (happily)
Percy: Sir Topham Hatt is coming soon (worried)
Book:
"Hi Percy," said Thomas happily.
Percy was worried. "Sir Topham Hatt is coming soon," he warned.
See? Completely different

Plus, the show MUST be for 3 year olds, but the RWS is really just for us now.

No, it's not. Plus, I imagine they'd then adapt those stories for TV, and mention where they were adapted from, so people would read themanyway.
Re: Future of the Railway Series
Are there many 3 year olds now who even own ONE RWS?

Re: Future of the Railway Series
Truth be told, it kinda depends on where in the world you ask that question. I'm sure parents in the U.S. And UK who grew up reading the RWS are passing it into their kids

UK no doubt but Im not too sure about the US. Many parents today only vaguely remember Shining Time from their childhood, and how on EARTH would they know about the RWS? There was no opening sequence for Thomas in STS, so no-one knew that Thomas was not an Allcroft-original.

I think that for the RWS to continue, it should be done through television.
