Re: Thomas Fandom Discussion
In parenthesis, is that how you say it with English letters?

Re: Thomas Fandom Discussion
Maybe we could get the two guys who do the Thomas comedy strips on TTTE Youtube to mention us Sudrians. Mikey could give the message.

Re: Thomas Fandom Discussion
A new question: Should we call the Season 8 Fish "Fish 2"? That'd be cool.

Re: Thomas Fandom Discussion
No, since the two episodes are unrelated, and the Season 8 one is not a sequel. Same with "Dirty Work" and "Thomas Saves the Day".

Re: Thomas Fandom Discussion
Maybe he meant Fish 2 not so much in the sense of a sequel but rather to distinguish the episodes?

Re: Thomas Fandom Discussion
But there aren't 8 episodes called "Fish" are there? I still like Fish 2, as well as (thank u Frank) Dirty Work 2 and Thomas saves the Day 2 (or "again")

Re: Thomas Fandom Discussion
Again? How? Thomas Saves the Day (S8) isn't a continuation from the first episode...that was called Thomas and the Breakdown Train anyway. At least in the UK.

Re: Thomas Fandom Discussion
What about that thing the Earls of Sodor said a few days back? Thoughts?
Honestly I partially agree with him, there are just some people who go way too far, but that doesn't mean we should ban them (for lack of a better word) from the fandom.

I don't like shipping and that sort of stuff myself, but I'm not gonna try and stop anybody who does it.

I absolutely despise shipping between non-human characters (or characters of different species).

Re: Thomas Fandom Discussion
So, the Earls, the same guys that nearly drove someone to suicide a few weeks ago, said the TTTE fandom is to harsh to shippers? Never thought I'd find myself agreeing with them...
I'm not a shipper myself, but some people may interpret things differently, and that's fine. Some people think there are hints to certain ships in canon, which leads to me banging my head against the wall, but they are usually well intentioned. And let's face it, we "Tankies" are often the butt of jokes regarding our infamous hatred of shipping. In short, I don't hate shipping, but I do hate intolerance.

Re: Thomas Fandom Discussion
I don't consider myself a shipper; I consider myself a "writer of romance". I enjoy stories where the engines are in love.

Agreed. I hate it when shippers think ships like Thomas x Rosie are canon, but hey, if they like it, that's fine. It's all down in interpretation. And really? That's what we're the butt of jokes by? I thought it was our tendency to argue over nothing but okay.

Re: Thomas Fandom Discussion
Though I do like it when the engines feel romantic towards each other, I absolutely do not consider it canon, and I think it is wrong to.DonaldDouglasandToby6 wrote:I hate it when shippers think ships like Thomas x Rosie are canon, but hey, if they like it, that's fine.
Re: Thomas Fandom Discussion
I'm probably going to make some people mad when I say this, but I'll take my chances:
"I - actually - support - shipping - certain - characters - romance wise."
There, I said it

Me too, but it gets out of hand when engines are shipped with ponies or people or Tokyo Mew Mew (whatever THAT is)

Re: Thomas Fandom Discussion
I'm fine with shipping; in fact, I like to read every now and then. I just dislike it when they go overboard...
Now, if we go back to the beginning of the thread, with the discussion about what to call Thomas fans, I'm actually not to big on the term 'Sudrians', as that, in my opinion, is just for people who live on Sodor. I thus would rather have us be called... Thomas fans. It's simple, not sophisticated, and overall, I think it'd work out the best.

Re: Thomas Fandom Discussion
I actually like the "Sudrian" idea because it's similar to "Whovian". Otherwise, we could be called something similar to "Potterheads".

Re: Thomas Fandom Discussion
Tankies? It's the name non-fans know best (thanks, Neil Patrick Harris), and it actually sounds pretty cool.
Re: Thomas Fandom Discussion
Well, I still personally feel we shouldn't really label ourselves. We're Thomas Fans – isn't that enough? Thomas already is considered 'childish', and if we were to call ourselves 'Tankies' or 'Sudrians', I think they'd think we're even childisher. I'm fine with calling myself a Thomas Fan.
