Thomas References

Another Thomas reference in The Simpsons that occured in the Season 26 penultimate finale. The "I Choo Choo Choose you" train appeared and had a Ringo voice in Otto's hallucination.

In "Mathlete's Feat", there's a choir that sounds exactly like the children who performed the New Series songs!

That reference went like this:

Bart: I didn't know Springfield had an underground subway! It's like a Thomas the Tank Engine you can go inside!
Milhouse: Yeah, and with no Fat Controller to tell us what to do!

Turns out I watched the wrong episode previously. The new reference was actually in "Bull-E".

I remember Robot Chicken did a short using the Bachmann Trains. Warning their is Some Cursing so don't watch if you don't like listening to swear words.

Even though I'm not really into Family Guy, I heard one character say to Cleveland "You're worse than Uncle Thomas the Tank Engine!" and it cut to James with Fat Controller.

I can only assume 'Uncle Thomas' is a reference to Uncle Tom's Cabin as well.

Sorry about the mistake I made. The reference I just mention was from The Cleveland Show, a spinoff of Family Guy. And that red engine was Uncle Thomas with the number 13.

The weird thing is, I think by now we've covered all of the Thomas references in "mainstream" media. Are there any we missed?

A Hornby Percy appeared with a Tar wagon and a Sodor fuel tanker on James Mays Top Toys.

I was in Toys 'R' Us today, and I found something somewhat amusing:



They even used the term "tank engine" on the box.

That's because it's a tank engine. Not really related to Thomas other than the fact that's it's a blue locomotive.

Anyways, Marley and Me has some WR items in one scene.

They even made some that resemble Edward/Molly, though none of them are coloured like them (they still call them "tank engines", despite having tenders).

WatchMojo just placed Thomas number one in their Top 10 Sentient Vehicles list. I'm pretty sure that counts as a reference.

I don't think Chitty Citty Bang Bang was sentient.

I did see it driving by itself at least once in the film, when it came to save Jeremy and Jemima.

And it could think right? It was offended by that lady.

I remember in high school we read a novel called 'Don't Call Me Ishmael'. The main character tried to make a figurine of sorts of Batman but everyone kept thinking it was the Fat Controller so he called his figurine 'The Bat Controller'.

Ha ha! Bat Controller!

A piece of Thomas merchandise (seemingly food-based) recently appeared in an episode of The Dumping Ground.

The Smosh episode "1985 vs 2015" used a Thomas sound effect for a crashing car.

Thomas is one of the major subjects of product placement in Fred Claus.
