Thomas Pet Peeves
Do you have any particular pet peeves about Thomas and Friends? It can be about the RWS, TVS, merchandise, anything.
Here's mine: I can't stand it when someone uploads an episode or song from Seasons 1-5 that's in 4:3 and crops it to 16:9. It's fine as it was!

Unoriginal, but I hate it when people say Thomas the Train.

That was literally the first thing I thought about when I read the first post. "Thomas the Tank", even though it makes him sound more like the armoured fighting vehicle or the water tank(s) itself, still sounds better to me. Perhaps because Leokimvideo uses it, or because it's just one word missing from the proper title.

Does Mattel count as a pet peeve?

I don’t know about that, but the actions and decisions they have made recently certainly can.

I hate it when people use the 2013 or 1996 TWR D199 as D199. Look, here's how you do it. You use 1996 as Bear, and 2013 as Old Stuck Up.
Also, if you formerly used Old Style TWR, but now use the CGI models, [redacted] you!

I’m with you on that, though tbh, it doesn’t reeeally bother me that much. I currently only own the 1996 and 2013 D199. I do plan on getting the 2005 version to use as the actual D199, and then the 1996 and 2013 as Bear and Old Stuck-Up respectively, though I’m probably never gonna include Old Stuck-Up in my series.TGC wrote:I hate it when people use the 2013 or 1996 TWR D199 as D199. I’m okay with people using the CGI models instead of old style. Sure the old ones are nostalgic, but the CGI models look great too. Most of them at least. Honestly, my favorite WR era is probably 2002-2010. It’s still nostalgic for me, since I grew up with them, and they’ve got plenty of detail. I mainly use a mix of 2002-2010 and CGI models, plus old style for certain characters who either don’t have newer models (Neil, Frank, etc.) or who have newer models that just look terrible (cough, cough, Stepney).

People who complain about ERTL being out of scale. Look at Gordon's TWR Tender next to a grey troublesome truck. Look at James's Take Along body next to a troublesome truck. Look at Gordon's Tomy body next to a troublesome truck. Nothing is in scale, and unlike Take Along, ERTL isn't squished!

Okay, but whether or not other merchandise lines are out of scale, that doesn’t make them wrong by critiquing ERTL’s scaling issues.

Personally I thought Ertl looked a lot better than a lot of the lines that they are putting out now...

It is, I love ERTL, and will defend it until the day I dieFrankthetriviaman wrote:Personally I thought Ertl looked a lot better than a lot of the lines that they are putting out now...
As for mainline, other merchandise being out of scale does play importance in this, as no merch is in scale, so why are you taking that out on exclusively ERTL?

I can't stand it when other people refer to Thomas as "Thomas the Train" and not a "Tank Engine". I know this may sound cliche, but still.
