Re: Thomas and Friends Postopia Thread
First there is Eagle (I believe that's what they refer to him as) the Red Engine - Why not Pigeon the Green Engine?!

Re: Thomas and Friends Postopia Thread
Actually, there are two red engines (the one in the shed and the one in "The Sad Story of Henry" are different), and Eagle is a fanmade name for the second one. (Naming him "Golden Eagle" after those birds from that episode who's name escapes me, is what I'd do, though )
As for The Green Engine, I was thinking something like Paul, but this is all speculation.
Interesting note, though: IOS refers to "Some 80 engines" on the NWR. Only 15 (1-11, D1-D3, and the Works Diesel) had appeared. Counting the coffee pots, W&S tank engines, and other random cameoing engines brings us up to 41 (too tired to list them all right now... maybe later). So somehow, roughly 40 engines have escaped notice. If they knew that, say, Gordon had become famous for pulling the express, but they pulled an equally important train no one knew about, how would they react?

Re: Thomas and Friends Postopia Thread
Very true. Perhaps an Awdry will again take up the pen, and introduce us to the other forty-or-so engines.

Re: Thomas and Friends Postopia Thread
I actually doubt that will ever happen. Christopher is done, and there aren't any other Awdrys who want to carry the torch. Even if someone did step up, the publishers want more Thomas, not new characters. Sad, but true.
Re: Thomas and Friends Postopia Thread
Yes. I wish they could see there is more to the Railway Series than Thomas.

Re: Thomas and Friends Postopia Thread
My parents have always been anti-Thomas. Just ten minutes ago, my dad tried to convince me not to ask for Bachmann on my birthday. I also remember a conversation a couple months back where my mom not-so-subtly suggested that I get rid of my Tomy/Trackmaster collection. These "little kid train" comments are really beginning to annoy me (and it's not just because of Thomas's universal appeal and the fact that he's not a train). Any advice?
Re: Thomas and Friends Postopia Thread
Hm... what interests did your parents have?
Simply remind them that a person can have any interest they wish. There are bronies, you understand.

Re: Thomas and Friends Postopia Thread
I've made another Thomas & Friends coverage thread, this time on animes.co.il (in the Film and Television forum, of course). Like on ANiMe-IL, I'm known there as Sir Topham Hatt (סר טופהם האט).
Here it is (in Hebrew, with some English, and very long): http://www.animes.co.il/topic/21337-%D7%AA%D7%95%D7%9E%D7%A1-%D7%94%D7%A7%D7%98%D7%A8-%D7%95%D7%97%D7%91%D7%A8%D7%99%D7%9D-thomas-friends/
(The TTTE Wikia is credited for the images and translated information).

Great job, laG! Although I couldn't read it, I did like the pics you posted.
Re: Thomas and Friends Postopia Thread
You should post a link to the Hebrew Wiki on there.

I think that'd be against their rules.. They don't even allow advertising or merely mentioning other forums (even FXP).

Oh wow...
I noticed it's an anime blog. Does it just mean shows in general or what?

Re: Thomas and Friends Postopia Thread
Not really a blog, but more of a forum. They also have a Film and Television forum, and I was partially inspired by the Frozen thread while constructing the T&F one.

How did you know?!?!
I actually drank a soda float for three days straight, I thought you'd get mad cuz' I was hi on sugar and more sugar. Fortunately, I'm so insane that even alcohol does nothing to me (as I found out on St. Pattie's day)

Re: Thomas and Friends Postopia Thread
I can't believe it!
Season 17 has finally began airing in Israel, and has received an official Hebrew dub! I've been waiting for this for quite a long time, since that was the season that "saved" the show.
Hop! have uploaded "Steamie Stafford" (translated as "Stafford the Engine"), "Gordon Runs Dry", "Kevin's Cranky Friend" and "The Lost Puff" (translated as "The Lost Wind Instrument") to their YouTube channel, and I really hope they didn't ruin them with the atmosphere of S13-16, 'cause those are good episodes.

Re: Thomas and Friends Postopia Thread
I was just perusing Wikipedia's list of best-selling books and book series, and I saw that the Railway Series was Number 9!
Re: Thomas and Friends Postopia Thread
Per Pegnsean, the incident that inspired "Thomas Comes to Breakfast" is the subject of a song by Dave Goulder. I think it's called "The Man Who Put an Engine in the Chip Shop", but I can't find a recording.
