Alright, this is a thread I had in mind for a while.

My favorite Thomas and Friends location is Arlesburgh Harbor.

It's so beautiful especially the redone CGI one.

This is where you can post your thoughts on your favorite location.

Killaban - in Thomas & The Magic Railroad.
It was such a quaint little country station.

The rail and road bridge from Train Stops Play, Fish (S4), Mind That Bike and Gone Fishing (Song). It's something Arc needs to create in CGI for Thomas' branch line.

My favorite is the coal mines. Simply beautiful (in the classic, S5ish way)

I like the overhead pass in the intro, where Thomas exits the tunnel, Im surprised those sets weren't used at all.

I really liked the station that Percy and Thomas talked at in S4's Thomas and Stepney - Callandale, I believe it is called. Very pastoral scenery.

I had trouble finding the name even on the wikia a while back, but you're right, it's lovely.

I like Ffarquhar Station, Wellsworth, the Town Hall and Arlesbourgh Harbour. Those are my favourite places. They look best to me. In all honesty, though, I think almost every place on Sodor is fantastic.

Oh yes, there have been some rather fantastic locations over the years.

One thing I do dislike though- in the later model years, there was an unfortunate transition from the realistic looking sets, to more "toylike" in design. It was an unfortunate downgrade.

Now that you mention it, I do see a bit of that. I also see that a number of the stations are only used once in the series, like Hawin Lake. To me, this shows how large Sodor is.

I think that the CGI switch does open up a lot more possibilities of locations, and different views of those places, that you may not get to see as much with models.

I've got to say that Vicarstown station is growing on me. Knapford looks a bit more realistic, probably because it's been there since the start of the series, but given time and details showing up like grime and soot being worked in, I think Vicarstown would fit right in with all of the stations from the model days.

I've always loved the Clay Pits and quarry sets, and some of the nice harbours from the classic series like Knapford, Tidmouth, and Arlesburgh. S5 and 6 Brendam were really great, but they've been simplified a lot. Just about every of the Skarloey Railway is beautiful. The Ironworks and Smelter's Yard were always really good locations cause they meant things were boutta get spooky. I'll also say in the CGI series, I love the Steamworks, Vicarstown, and, this is a biggie, the Rheneas Viaduct, specifically in that one beautiful sunrise shot from Duncan the Humbug. You know the one.

Im partial towards the classic series locations myself; Knapford Station, the original Tidmouth Sheds, heck, even that double platform station on Thomas' branchline.

There's just a certain charm to the believable detail of the early series locations that the rather... cartoony locations of later seasons couldn't replicate
