The passing of Arc Productions
R.I.P.
1990-2016
In all seriousness, in case if you didn't hear, Arc filed for bankruptcy 2 days before this post was created. The question now is: Who will take over after season 21? Keep in mind that filming is still in Canada, and Andrew Brenner and his crew are still working on the show.

Re: The passing of Arc Productions
Couldn't this thread have been titled a little less explicitly...?
At any rate, I have no idea. I say we just wait and see, and keep all of the employees who lost their jobs in our thoughts.

Re: The passing of Arc Productions
Good question; surely the digital assets still exists, so it's just a question of who will receive these Thomas assets for future productions.
I am saddened that many are now out of a job, and hope that all will work out in the end.
And with regard to Thomas production- I am sure HiT entertainment knows that the show is a huge asset, and will try to find a production company to take over for future seasons.

Alright, fair enough. We can handle passings, but not death, I guess.

Yes, it is. The worst part is a good portion of talented people lost their jobs.

According to this article, the upcoming film Blazing Samurai is what sealed arc's fate (you have to subscribe to see the full article).

What animation studio could possibly animate the future of Thomas and Friends?

Re: The passing of Arc Productions
It would have to be a company in the same vein as arc and nitrogen; who else operates like them?

Re: The passing of Arc Productions
Here are a couple of suggestions for who would take over from Arc production:
1. Spider Eye Animation - The company that animated the Thomas is Leaving Sodor promotional video.
2. Go back to Nitrogen studios and see if they can improve.
3. Rainmaker Entertainment - The same people behind Escape From Planet Earth and The Ratchet and Clank Movie
4. DisneyToons Studios - The company behind all the disney direct-to-video sequels and the planes movies. (A bold one since Thomas isn't one of disney's properties).
5. Dreamworks Classics - I know it probably won't happen, but it would be nice if HiT would do an affiliation with Dreamworks through their Dreamworks Classics studio. Similar to VeggieTales.
Thats who i have at the moment, i may name a few more if any come to mind.

Re: The passing of Arc Productions
I'm not too familiar with most of these studios' work, but Spider Eye and DreamWorks Classics wouldn't have done a very impressive job on the show and specials. Nitrogen and Rainmaker are the best choices on this list, even though Disney is obviously the best (which will never happen because, as you said, it's not a Disney property). However, DreamWorks Animation itself could've made it look and feel even more amazing than S19 and SLOTLT. Same with Sony Pictures (Angry Birds film) or Illumination (Minions).

Re: The passing of Arc Productions
It would probably have to be a company that focuses strictly on animation, not one that owns intellectual property like Disney or Dreamworks

So Illumination is off the table. (Despite the fact that they are British).

Really? What property do they own?

Re: The passing of Arc Productions
By "property", we mean brands and franchises these companies own, if I'm not mistaken.

Yes; sorry, I should have specified intellectual property

Re: The passing of Arc Productions
Nitrogen is not likely. I don't know why TTTE left Nitrogen, but it wasn't because of poor animation. Up until TAB or so, Arc was not quite as good as Nitrogen in terms of animation. It was probably some sort of irreconcilable difference between Hit and Nitrogen.
