Actually, he was made the lead role because he was #1. Having Edward be the lead wouldnt make sense if he was #2

That's probably part of it, but I heard somewhere what I said was the main reason.
Also, more unpopular opinions:
1. Being Percy isn't that fantastic to me; sure, it has a good moral but the rest of it is basic and really repetitive.
2. For some reason The Truth About Toby's getting a bit of dislikes. I don't know why really; the rumor makes more sense than Thomas and the New Engine, and it even has dark undertones. Scrapping for an engine is basically...well...y'know...the end for us humans.

Re: Unpopular Thomas Opinions
1. I think the Arlesdale Railway in the TV Series would do fine without Jock and Frank.
2. Other then Bear and the Culdee Fell Railway. The rest of the RWS Series characters aren't strong characters for storytelling. Therefore, I think rendering them in CGI would be a waste.
3. I'm fine with the current team keeping the Sodor Search and Rescue Team in the show.

I must respectfully disagree with point one; adding Jock and Frank would add diversity to the miniature railway, and with the larger cast, possibly allow minimum gauge focused episodes since 5 characters would allow for a greater variety of interaction than 3

Sigrid and the Blisters would be cool too. Maybe Sigrid could have her passengers bang their heads on a certain piece of track, and I always imagined the Blisters as Bill and Ben with Rustys job (repairing the tracks)

More unpopular opinions!
1. I don't think BoCo's the most interesting. It'd be interesting to see him return but he's not a priority for me.
2. I sort of agree with Nykrivas; Pip, Emma, Albert, etc. aren't that interesting. They're sort of just there. I think Frank, Jock, and maybe Sixteen (as a flashback or something) could work though.

Re: Unpopular Thomas Opinions
I disagree with Pip and Emma, but Albert and some other RWS characters would be pointless for the current TV Series. Frank, Jock, Blisters and Sigrid of Arlesdale would work in the TV Series. Pip and Emma could help Gordon with passengers on busy days. I was never really a fan of Conner and Caitlin taking the role of Pip and Emma because like Hank and Sam their probably to large for British scales.

The problem with Sigrid and the Blisters though; is there enough "there" for the writers to work with?

The writers could give them original personalities like when they introduce new characters.

I think the engines that simply visit should not come back, especially Stepney, who currently couldn't work if he wanted to.

Stepney could come back since he runs the bluebell branch line alongside the Skarloey Railway.

Re: Unpopular Thomas Opinions
I dont think that would be possible, in Brenner's eyes, RWS overwrites the TVS

Maybe so but since when do Connor and Caitlin take their role? They didn't take over Gordon's express and they go to Ulfstead Castle, unlike Pip and Emma.

Pop and Emma do have potential; they just haven't been "fully realized" just yet.

Who are Pop and Emma? I heard of Pip and Emma but not Pop and Emma.

I don't think the HiT characters are very bad. As plenty of people have said, they can be given new personalities, and they would be great picks for returnees.

I don't like one offs from Seasons 11-12. Molly, Neville and Dennis were fine and I never really cared about the ones from Season 10.

Re: Unpopular Thomas Opinions
Moar!
1. I prefer Smudger over Stanley (RWS) in canon but I don't think Smudger needs to return.
2. I view No. 2 from Granpuff (RWS) and Stanley (RWS) as possibly two separate locomotives.
3. The music from the New Series sounds boring and sleepy.
4. The look of Season 5 was a bit grubby but I think it might of looked different from the previous season for the tone of the season. The music sounded grubbier too.
5. The models from Seasons 6-12 looked too bulky. The CGI renders of the engines look bulky too. Possibly since their mostly based on the New Series models.

I'll agree in smudged; their really is no point to him returning, he was a plot device if anything.
Plus chances are, he was scrapped

I don't understand Smudger. From what i've seen, so many people want him to return. But don't understand the fact he's dead.

I do agree that he doesn't need to return, but I still think he is better than Stanley.
