Earliest Thomas Memories
Thomas and Friends has been a major part of all of our childhoods, so what is your first Thomas memory? What was the first episode you remember seeing?
Personally, I can't remember my first Thomas experience, but I know that my dad rented me a copy of Better Late Than Never and Other Stories from a corner store in our neighborhood (sadly, it is now closed). So logic would have it that Better Late Than Never was the first episode I watched! It would explain why I have such a soft spot for it! I believe the first VHS I actually owned was Thomas and his Friends Get Along and Other Adventures. I always loved that release too

Re: Earliest Thomas Memories
My first VHS was Cranky Bugs and other stories. I don't remember my first time watching it but I do recall watching that and a few other tapes all day. If I thought about it for awhile I could probably remember specific memories regarding that era of my life

Re: Earliest Thomas Memories
One other thing I remember quite clearly is my first Wooden Railway set. That was A Day at the Works Set, which came with Culdee, Thomas and S.C. Ruffey. I still use those very engines in my series! A picture of the set can be seen here!
Re: Earliest Thomas Memories
My earliest Thomas memory is probably receiving the entire second season on VHS (so I suppose Thomas, Percy and the Coal was my first episode!), but I watched the second video more than the video (I liked A Close Shave and the Donald and Douglas episodes best )
Re: Earliest Thomas Memories
I remember watching Trust Thomas, Thomas Percy and the Dragon, James goes Buzz Buzz, Percy's Ghostly Trick and Thomas and the Special Letter on VHS alot at a very young age. I collected more tapes as time when on, and everyday i would find myself watching nothing but them on my small TV.
Re: Earliest Thomas Memories
I remember my first Thomas VHS pretty well, considering how long it has been. On my 2nd birthday, I received a copy of "Thomas Gets Tricked" and a Thomas the Tank Engine/train themed party.
For my 3rd birthday, everyone who brought me presents were told to bring some ERTL trains.

Re: Earliest Thomas Memories
My earliest memory was buying the complete series 4 on VHS (in those big boxes ) and my first WR toy was Toby (and Rickety, who from then on-wards became Toby's truck). I also remember watching Season 7 air on television (especially Murdoch and Fergus).

Incidentally, one of the first movies I saw in the theaters was TATMR. I remember loving it, but my parents hated it

I still clearly remember seeing TATMR in theaters when it first came out. My brother was still little so my dad took me and my mom stayed home. I remember the scene when Alec Baldwin was in D10's claw trying to grab the pliers.
TATMR wasn't the first movie I saw in theaters. It was actually Toy Story 2.

TATMRR was the first movie I saw in theatres, but I was only 1 year old so I don't remember it. I do remember playing with my first WR's. I still have them, they're destroyed beyond belief

Re: Earliest Thomas Memories
I know it isn't much, but twelve years ago - I had painted a very colourful picture of Thomas and his friends (taken from one of the magazine advertisements for Thomas & Friends: A Big Live Tour (2003), which I went to see at Wembley later in February of that year), and sent to to CITV headquarters in Birmingham.
This was shown after the second airing of Elizabeth the Vintage Lorry on CITV in February 2003. After that, I received some fantastic CITV goodies including some autographs from former presenters: Leah Charles-King and Michael Underwood.

That's so cool Dan, you are famous! That's a pretty good painting too considering you were young!

Very cool! I think I tried to send a drawing of James into the TTTE magazines one time, but I don't remember if I actually went through with that.

I once sent in a drawing of Molly to the TTTE Magazine, but it wasn't printed.

When I was uber young, my parents would leave me at home with my grandpa. He'd always turn on the TV at whatever time Thomas was on and I'd watch it with him while sitting on his lap. My earliest memory was watching Edward's Exploit and The Diseasel.

Re: Earliest Thomas Memories
I remember that when it was time for bed, my mom would pop in a Thomas VHS Tape, out of the 5 we had - All the "Best Ofs" besides for Best of Gordon, Thomas and the Special Letter and Thomas and the Magic Railroad.
I also remember I used to ask her to, then she would and I would end up trying to reenact the episodes with my TWR trains while the tape is playing on screen. Good times, Good Times.

The first episode I saw was Off the Rails. Some of the first VHS/DVDs I got were James Learns a Lesson, Thomas and His Friends Help Out and Thomas and the Special Letter.

Re: Earliest Thomas Memories
My earliest Thomas memory is seeing Magic Railroad at the cinema and the first season I remember watching on TV was Season 6, but I know I saw Season 5 first because my parents recorded it for me when I was 1 or 2.
I also know thanks to old photo albums and talking to my parents that my first merch was ERTL Thomas and Percy, who were on my 2nd birthday cake.

An ERTL flavored cake? Doesn't sound too tasty!
